       This is a moving and emotional illustrated story about two best friends who go hiking together, and - without even realizing it - have been struck by lightning !    They both awake to find themselves together near the mouth of a cave where they were both struck during an approaching thunderstorm - with what appears to be a large "ball" of light in front of them, which is in fact, actually a "portal".   Little do they both know, they have actually been killed by the lightning - and are now in a spirit state - nobody, including their loved ones, can physically see or hear them anymore.

OTHER ARTS NEWS - LATEST - SUMMARY: ....

THREE-DIMENSIONAL TRIBE DOLL-SCULPTS / & "DREAM-CATCHERS" - COMING SOON ! ....

* 'RAVEN-CHICKAREE' IN 3.D. ! *

Several new "doll-sculpts" are already in the process of being created, including a sculpted face-profile and body originally created back in about 2012, and 2016. These include, a Native-American Red Indian 1:2 ( 1/2)- scale baby, in a papoose / cradle-board; and a 1:2- scale female doll-sculpt of young 'Raven- Chickaree', the Native- American fantasy character, who has been only previously created as illustrated / or painted artwork on canvas, or other panels - for the already-existing "graphic-novel" format / style storyline(s).

       The 1:2- scale baby in a papoose / cradle-board was initially intended to be only with the 1:2- scale 'Raven' doll- sculpt, as her own baby, as though being carried by her. But it has also been decided that the baby in papoose could also be exhibited individually. However they are created and released into the public domain, they will and are going to be as extremely limited, first "prototypes" - with a great attention to detail.  There will hopefully, also be an accompanying themed one-of-a-kind "dream-catcher" issued with each completed art- doll, as well as the baby in a papoose.

       The 1:2 ( 1/2)- scale doll sculpt of young 'Raven' began life  in 2021, using terracotta modelling-clay, her body being created over the top of a supporting frame. Visual information of her face has been "transferred" across from the illustrated & painted panels - in an attempt to get her features as close to the illustrated images as possible - that is no easy task!  In the story, she is a small young Native- American woman of only about 5 feet tall. To try to convert that measure to a 1:2- scale art doll, requires quite a lot of careful calculation!  Converting her overall height to the doll size was actually relatively easy, - as it is simply a case of dividing the 5 feet measurement by half ! (- Half of 5 feet = 2 and a half feet - simple! ....)

       BUT it is the rest of the measurements, that start to become a lot more difficult to work out - say, for example, the size of her head, legs, torso, etc. .... Also, the exact position of her eyes, nose, mouth, and their size on the doll.

       I mentioned before about the great attention to detail. Already, other components for the doll-sculpt(s) have been created, such as individually- hand-painted one-of-a-kind beads, and tribal- bands to be added as part of her clothing - in the form of a kind of fabric "tape" - each one that is repeatedly painted with a Native-American style pattern, each with many variations and tribal colours. There will of course, be one of these bands for being dressed on & wrapped around on her head.

       The methods of creating the actual art-doll(s) is and will be very complex, to say the least! That will especially be the case with creating fully-articulated dolls! But, it is not impossible to do - it just requires a lot, (- and I mean, a lot! ) of patience and care. I am in the fortunate position to be an artist, & illustrator / and doll-artist & sculptor, with many years of experience behind me - so I must have the patience of a saint! I also have many years of experience with mold-making, and know what materials are needed to do it successfully.

       The molds of (for) each component, of each doll, will need to be many in number - and will be made using both Latex-rubber and Silicone-rubber, both types each with an external support - that can be made using either plaster, or fibreglass (- which includes using Polyester Resin) - with a supporting framework - including wire, nuts / & bolts, etc. to hold everything in place, to try to reproduce the original sculpt as accurately as possible. All of that is very complex and VERY time-consuming !

       When the molds have been made and completed, then various CASTING materials can and will be able to be used. These will include - Artists' Resin - with "filler" and a pigment, Epoxy-resin based "putty", (- such as the very well-known and popular, 'Milliput' - Registered trademark ), and Polymer-clay (- such as 'Sculpy', 'Cernit', and 'Fimo' - all names are Registered trademarks ). Luckily, I have got many years experience with all of these.

       For the smaller-scale doll- sculpt(s), OTHER materials have been used to create them. These include - so-called "Polymer-clay", that can actually be baked in an ordinary oven (with great care and supervision! ), without the need for a kiln. I once half-owned a small kiln, but when I discovered the uses of Polymer, I found that the use of the kiln became redundant - no-longer needed.  I also have much experience with the use of modelling-wax, but, however, that stuff CANNOT be baked !
